In 1949 Thomas Haggar and his children Fred, Ed, Bill, and Martha
started Franklin Food Market on the corner of 3rd St. and Cliff Ave.
Choosing the name Franklin Food Market was done because of the grade
school next door bearing the same name. In 1959 we built in the current
location at 711 N. Cliff. In 1976, with the daily affairs of the
business ran by Fred and Ed, we expanded the store.
In 1987, full ownership was taken by Ed and his son Ted. Eventually,
in 1991
Ted and his wife Glenda took sole ownership of Franklin Food Market. The
constant remains as Ed Haggar still cuts meat every morning as
he has since 1949.
